This series is a meditation on the pipes that connect and destroy our environment. The title is a quote from one of my first grade students. In class, we read We Are Water Protectors, a children’s book about the #NoDAPL movement. Upon learning that the book was a true story, one of our students told me the following week, “I saw it in my nightmares — the black snake. It’s real.”
