In 2016, I began taking ballet lessons, training in the demanding Vaganova style, and pushing my body to do painful and unnatural movements. My training coincided with the slow decline of my grandmother’s health and much of this series are abstracted images of her and other Elders I encountered at a senior care community where she stayed temporarily. This series explores the limitations of human will and the inevitability of time and life’s fragility.

Titles are quotes from the song “Human” by The Killers.
